Welcome to Love to Cook – A Taste of Plant-Based Living!
My name is Amie Green and I am a Certified Health Coach and plant-based cook. I live in Kansas with my amazing husband, 2 talented teenage daughters and sweet Shih tzu Lincoln.
Love to Cook is a health and food blog that inspires people to eat more plants and discover their optimal health. I do not subscribe to an all-or-nothing approach to eating a whole foods plant-based diet. Rather, I believe it is what one does most of the time that influences health outcomes.
So, I subscribe to the 51% rule …. encourage creativity in the kitchen with plant-based food MOST of the time (more than half).
Simple is at the heart of everything I do in the kitchen. In this blog, I share tips and recipes that will support those wanting to better integrate plant-based foods into their diet. I include many easy recipes that are delicious.
I believe one of the best skills anyone can have, especially the chronically ill, is to be able to cook more plants, and therefore heal.
Cooking did not come easy to me. Like many who did not learn this skill early on in life, I lived off fast and processed food for most of my early life. Who would need to learn to cook if ready-made food enables one to not to have to cook?
Then, about 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and suffered from debilitating fatigue and chronic pain. This diagnosis graciously forced me to seek out a healthier lifestyle.
My health journey has brought on a health journey toward a more plant-based life. I have actually learned to love cooking plants! My hope is to inspire others to take up cooking plant-based food, and live life with real food as your fuel for a healthy life.
